CM permits vehicles for transporting borewells amidst lockdown

Chief Minister of the state Vijay Rupani has taken yet another decision to ensure the welfare of farmers amidst lockdown.

The farmers of Gujarat had put up a request to permit vehicles carrying borewells amidst lockdown. Providing details of CM’s decision, Secretary to CM Ashwani Kumar said, “The Chief Minister has decided to permit vehicles to transport borewells between various districts and talukas for farmers who wish to install them in their farms.

The vehicles used for the same will not be required to obtain any special pass from regional administration.” As many as 50 lakh NFSA card holders have availed a total assistance of Rs. 500 crores till date. 35 lakh NFSA card holding families have availed 3.5 kg wheat and 1.5 kg rice per person since 25th April, 2020. 8 lakh 87 thousand 243 quintals of agri produce has been sold by farmers in 142 APMCs of Gujarat.

Out of this, wheat, castor and mustard occupy a major portion of the produce. 4 lakh 12 thousand quintals of wheat, 2 lakh 41 thousand quintals of castor and 48,121 quintals of mustard has been sold by the farmers. 47.32 lakh liters of milk has been sold in the state. 1 lakh 44 thousand 818 quintals of vegetables are available in the market.
