CM discusses to purchase groundnuts at MSP

Gujarat Chief Minister ensures the safety of future leaders amidst the global pandemic


Chief Minister of the state Vijay Rupani discussed with the Union Minister of Textiles for purchase of groundnuts at MSP through Cotton Corporation of India.

Providing details of the same, Secretary to CM Ashwani Kumar said, “The CM has discussed this keeping in mind the interests of the farmers in Saurashtra and Central Gujarat. Rupani has also advocated for ensuring that the purchase of groundnuts in Gujarat through CCI centres in Gujarat begins as soon as possible.”

The state government has already purchased 13,722 metric tons of wheat at ₹ 26.42 crores through Gujarat State Civil Supplies Corporation from 27th April, 2020. At the same time, 3383 metric tons of tuar dal has been purchased at Rs.20 crores. GUJCOMSOL has purchased 24,370 metric tons of gram at ₹ 119 crores from 1st May, 2020 onwards. Similarly, 3757 metric tons of mustard has been purchased at ₹ 17 crores.

127 APMCs are operational in Gujarat at the moment. The farmers have sold 40 lakh quintals of agri produces to the APMCs so far. This comprises 13 lakh quintals of wheat, 9.5 lakh quintals of castor, 2 lakh quintals of mustard, 1.60 lakh quintals of gram, 1.90 lakh quintals of cotton seeds, 82,000 quintals of groundnuts and 37,422 quintals of tobacco.

The purchase is being done keeping in mind the necessary safety protocols at all given points of time.
