Hundreds of state Congress workers, including Congress corporator, former corporator, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of BJP state president Adesh Gupta. During a press conference at the state office, Adesh Gupta gave the party ‘Patka’ to hundreds of Congress leaders, including the corporator Geetika Pankaj Luthra from East Delhi Municipal Corporation’s Jhilmil ward and former councilor Pankaj Luthra.
Adesh Gupta said that, “it is a matter of great pleasure to see the way Geetika and Pankaj Luthra have handled the responsibility of public representatives, have always stood by the people in happiness and grief, and have been popular among the people, their inclusion will be strengthened BJP even further. Today, the existence of the Congress is nearing its end. BJP has always worked towards connecting the lower strata of the society with the mainstream. I congratulate Geetika and Pankaj Luthra along with other Congress leaders who have become members of the BJP family today.”
On joining BJP, Pankaj Luthra said that, “we are very impressed with the working style of Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, be it the matter of Ram temple or Section 370 and that is why today hundreds of workers led by Geetika Pankaj Luthra are joining BJP.
