On the occasion of World Standard Day 2021, a proud moment for Consumer Online Foundation (COF), a not-for-profit consumer rights organisation, the first and only organisation in the country to be certified as per international standard ISO 9001:2015 on Consumer Complaint Redressal Services in India. This comes at a time when the organisation also celebrates under the leadership of Professor Bejon Misra, founder, trustee and a renowned consumer activist with 35 years of their service operations in Indian subcontinent.
Commenting on the certification, Prof Bejon Misra, Founder Trustee of Consumer Online Foundation said, “It is a momentous occasion for everyone working with Consumer Online Foundation and I am elated that we have received our certification with ISO. This allows us to not only demonstrate how effective our service delivery system is, but another clear statement that consumer services is central in everything we do, from understanding customers’ requirements and their ecosystem, to analysing their pain points, and crafting effective redressal solutions of consumer complaints.”
“When an organisation with only limited staff could qualify then why not all organisations (Public & Private) dealing with consumer grevience redressal get themselves certified by a third party as per global standards voluntarily to establish credibility and assured quality of service” Misra added.
ISO 9001 is the most popular standard in ISO 9000 series and provides the customers reassurance that the organisation has established a quality management system based on the seven quality management principles of ISO 9001. World Standards Day, also known as International Standards Day, is observed globally every year on the 14th of October. This day aims to create awareness about the importance of standardization to the global economy among the consumers, regulators, and industry.
