Tribal Welfare Minister Meena Singh reviews schemes in Mantralaya 


Tribal Welfare Minister, Meena Singh has issued instructions to the officials to further strengthen the monitoring of the ongoing development works in tribal areas. He also spoke about making skill development programmes more effective for creating employment opportunities among tribal youth. The Tribal Welfare Minister was reviewing the tribal development schemes in Mantralaya. He instructed the officers to use 100 percent of the budget and complete construction works within the time-limit.

The Tribal Welfare Minister stated the need to pay more attention to skill development of women self-help groups for empowerment of tribal women. Better arrangements should also be made for marketing of the items which are being made by self-help groups.

Minister Meena Singh said that construction work should be done from the budget of Tribal Department in those areas where tribal population is more than 75 percent.

It was informed in the meeting that infrastructure development work, family-oriented scheme and Forest Rights Act are being implemented in the project area through Tribal Regional Development. This year, proposals of Rs 74 crore 46 lakh have been sent to the central government for the Special Backward Tribes by the Department. It was informed in the meeting that more than Rs 200 crore was sanctioned to the state in the Special Central Assistance for Tribal Sub Plan last year in 2019-20.

Director Shailbala Martin said that 512 haat-bazaars have been identified in 89 blocks of tribal districts of the state where there is no banking service. Due to this, a plan of Rs 12 crore for setting up ATMs in these selected locations has been approved.

Regarding implementation of Forest Rights Act, it was stated that cancelled and pending claims were being redressed through M.P Van Mitra software. June 30,2020 has been fixed as the deadline for redressal of individual claims.
